Spin a cube to discover that left-right, free-authoritarian, and centralized-federal are not the same axis.

We argue about politics as if it were a single line: left over here, right over there. But that line keeps failing us. It can’t tell a libertarian from an anarchist, or explain why two “left” governments feel nothing alike. This piece hands you a cube. Each face is a different question about power, and as you rotate it you watch ideologies pull apart into a space they were always living in.

Notes from the making

I kept the geometry honest: every axis is something you could, in principle, measure independently. No axis is “good” or “bad”; the cube refuses to take sides, which is the entire point.

The hardest design decision was letting people get lost. An early version snapped the cube to clean angles; it felt like a quiz. Free rotation feels like thinking.
